Tecumseh and Tenskwatwa represent for many non-Indians the yin and yang of the Native American experience: Tecumseh represented the "noble savage," while Tenskwatawa represented the superstitious, sneaky, dishonest savage brute. Why do you think these stereotypes developed? How have they shaped our understanding of the two men? Do you think these stereotypes have shaped how the sources of information have been interpreted?
